Tested and Proven
Whether it’s an exam, an interview, or a tricky riddle; getting something right is a great feeling. gush walks the talk, so we put our paint through rigorous testing and high-standard analysis. All so you can rest, assured.
Our paints have undergone the following tests:
VOC Removal
Formaldehyde Removal Efficacy Test – In Darkness (Adopted JEM 1467)
Tested by TÜV SÜD
A panel painted with gush paint was placed in a chamber with a formaldehyde source. As the paint breaks down VOCs, formaldehyde levels were measured to find out the rate to which it breaks down over time.
Test Procedure
2 sample panels (450mm x 450mm x 6mm)were used. One sample was coated with gush paint on both sides, and the other sample was left uncoated.
Each sample was placed in a chamber containing a fixed concentration of formaldehyde solution as follows:
Chamber size: 1m³
Dosing level for formaldehyde: 200 ± 2.5µl of 3.7% formaldehyde solution
Temperature: Ambient
Lighting: Not used
The concentration of formaldehyde within each chamber was measured at certain intervals.
Test Results

The paint has been found to break down 99% of Formaldehyde in 21 hours.
Mould and Fungal Growth Resistance
Mildew Resistance Test: SS150:2015 (Annex C)
Tested by SETSCO
Mould was introduced onto a test sample plate painted with gush paint, and the mould specimen was observed over time for any growth.
Test Procedure
Test organism used: Aspergillus niger ATC6275
Incubation period: 7 days
3 sample plates were coated with gush paint. The samples and controls were inoculated with the same quantity of test organism into blank culture medium plates, and observed after 7 days.
Test Results
The sample coated with gush paint is deemed to have passed the mildew resistance test.

A total absence of fungus growth was observed on the gush painted specimen.
Anti-Bacterial
Anti-Microbial Activity and Efficacy (JIS Z 2801:2000 Test)
Tested by AMTC
This test specifically evaluated gush’s anti-microbial activity and efficacy against Escherichia coli (E.Coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S.Aureus).
Test Procedure
2 sample surfaces (#1 and #2) were coated with gush paint, with 1 more sample left uncoated as the test control. Each sample was left in their own controlled environment with the same number of bacteria, for E.Coli and S.Aureus respectively.
Duration: 24 hours
Following this, the number of viable bacteria cells within each environment were tabulated.
Test Results
By comparing the bacteria populations found in the painted samples against the control sample, the percentage of reduction in bacteria was derived as follows.

99% of bacteria is eliminated through contact with our paint.
VOC Free and Non-Toxic
Presence of Heavy Metals, Chemicals and VOCs
Tested by TÜV SÜD
Using safer materials in our formulation, our paint is VOC-Free and non-toxic. The tests determine if gush paint fulfils the product safety requirements as established by SGBC.
Test Procedure
In compliance with the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) for the Product Group: Paints and Coatings, a sample of gush paint (cair and cair fresh respectively) was tested in its ‘as-received’ condition for the presence of certain chemicals and VOCs.
Test Results

cair and cair fresh interior paints are non-toxic and VOC-free.
Humidity Regulation
Moisture Absorption & Release Capacities
Tested by AMTC
The test measures the humidity regulation capabilities of the paint.
Test Procedure
2 test sample surfaces were used: #1 (2 coats of gush paint) and #2 (3 coats of gush paint)
The samples were dried and weighed prior to the test.
The test was conducted in 2 stages:
- Samples were placed in the Humidity and Temperature Chamber to test their moisture absorption capacity.
Duration: 48 hours
Temperature: 25 °C
Humidity: 95%RH
Following this, the samples were weighed again at normal room conditions, and the moisture absorption capacity tabulated, before proceeding to the second stage.
2. Samples were placed in another Chamber to test their moisture release capacity.
Duration: 48 hours
Temperature: 25 °C
Humidity: 35%RH
Following this, the samples were weighed at normal room conditions, and the moisture release capacity was tabulated.
Test Results
Based on the tests, the moisture regulation capacities of the samples were as follows:

Durability
Durability to Weathering
Tested under ASTM D 4587 standards
Our paints are put through accelerated weathering tests to determine the physical durability and the lifespan of their air-purifying benefits.
Test Procedure
3 coats of gush paint were applied to test surface (cement). After being left to dry completely, the painted surface was subject to accelerated weathering with the Xenotest 150 weathering apparatus.
Duration: 500 hours of accelerated weathering
Temperature: 25 ± 2 °C
Humidity: 55 ± 5 %
The painted surface was then tested for changes in appearance, including blistering, cracking, appreciable chalking, and colour fading. The painted surface was also tested for any changes in thermal insulation ability and air purification efficacy.
Test Results
Blistering: No change
Cracking: No change
Appreciable Chalking: No change
Colour Fading: No change
Thermal Conductivity: Before – Average: 0.19; After – Average: 0.19
Air Purification Efficacy: Before – Average: 75%; After – Average: 74.6%
gush paint Durability: 70,000 h
(based on linear, lowest-common denominator)
gush paint is found to be effective in its air-purification properties for at least 5-8 years.
Thermal Conductivity
Thermal Conductivity Test (ASTM D7984)
Tested by AMTC
The test examines the thermal conductivity of the paint.
Test Procedure
2 types of samples were used. Type 1 samples were coated with standard emulsion paint, while Type 2 Samples were coated with gush paint.
Using a TCi Thermal Conductivity Analyzer, the thermal effusivity and conductivity (k) were measured for each sample type, and an average reading was derived from 8 tests per type.
Test Temperature: 25 ºC
Test Results

The test results show that gush paint has a lower thermal conductivity compared to normal emulsion paints.
